Institutional Portfolios For The Individual Investor

Fund Evaluation Group (FEG) is an independent institutional investment advisory firm. Our heritage is working with large Endowments, Foundations and Non-Profit firms who select us to manage their investment portfolios. FEG offers institutional quality Managed Portfolio Solutions as investment options for advisor clients. Our managed portfolios are considered “core strategies” within an investor’s portfolio. Currently, FEG advises on $79B of client assets under advisement.

As an investment advisor firm, not a broker dealer, we are objective with respect to our recommendations regarding the holdings in our clients’ portfolios. Our focus is global manager research. FEG constructs our Managed Portfolios combining ETF’s and actively managed mutual funds. We have access to a large variety of investment options, but only utilize those that are formally deemed to be “recommended” by our Investment Policy Committee. FEG believes excess returns are more of a function of dynamic asset allocation decisions and manager selection.

Our Interests Are Aligned With Our Clients

MPMG is focused on locating investment opportunities that operate the same way we run our business – with responsibility and integrity. We’ve utilized the same value-based philosophy and process since our inception in 1995. Historically this strategy was meant to provide a smoother experience over a market cycle.

MPMG takes a long-term approach. Therefore, one should anticipate MPMG embracing an asset for 4-6 years. Generally, this approach is more tax efficient than aggressively traded products. 30 or fewer companies typically make it into the portfolio.

MPMG diversifies among market capitalizations, industries, sectors and geographic locations. We believe being benchmark agnostic allows us the freedom to go where the most promising investment opportunities are along with avoiding the excesses of herd mentality.

Appeal to the High Net Worth Clients You’re Looking to Attract

The roots of Capital Group’s SMAs can be traced back more than 40 years to investment vehicles aimed at high net worth investors that included senior Capital associates and their families. Over the past four decades, we have managed separate accounts for institutional clients and high net worth individuals, providing investment solutions beyond mutual funds. Capital Group’s Separately Managed Account strategies have a proven track record, tax-aware approach and a history of resilience.

Capital Group’s SMA strategies are rooted in nearly 90 years of investment experience, with the goal of delivering superior, consistent results for our long term investors. Utilizing our tax-aware approach, a long-term buy-and-hold approach has the benefit of low turnover, which typically results in greater tax efficiency than strategies with higher turnover. Capital Group’s history of resilience within our equity strategies have had consistently strong relative returns during down markets. Now this investment capability is more broadly available to individuals working with financial advisors through broker-dealer SMA programs.

Empower the Advisor®

An investment manager who shares the advisor’s passion for delivering goals-based financial strategies. This is Horizon Investments.

Goals-Based Investing Explained
At its core, goals-based investing is about connecting investment strategies to a client’s financial objectives. Horizon empowers advisors to make that connection by custom-tailoring strategies for the three stages of an investment journey: Gain, Protect and Spend.

Built on Goals-Based Principles
As we like to say, style-box investing is not our style. Our grounding in goals-based principles drives us to focus on the outcome targeted by a financial plan, rather than style boxes.

Whether you are a financial advisor outsourcing portfolio management or seeking to build custom portfolios, we are here to empower you.

Simplified Access to Sophisticated Risk Management

At Toews we believe in building wealth while preparing investors and advisors for the worst the markets have to offer. Founded in 1994, Toews Asset Management offers a suite of strategies that use multi-layered hedging in order to provide financial advisors with a means to offer to their investors’ access to a broad range of asset classes in both fixed income and equities, while attempting to address the effects of severe market dislocations.

How to Make SMAs Accessible for All

SMAs were invented in the 1970s to accommodate the needs for high net worth individuals, whose investment objectives didn’t fit well into standard mutual fund strategies. But that was then and this is now!

Recent history shows that SMAs actually hold more wealth than either ETFs or mutual funds. One study found that they comprised 35% of U.S. equity assets in 2018, while ETFs held 34% and mutual funds came in third at 31% of equity wealth.1

The steady growth that SMAs have shown may be about to get much higher as well. Another study suggests that demand for SMAs may double by 2023.2

Download our ebook to learn more about the benefits and roadblocks to using SMAs and how you can make them more accessible to all your clients.
