January 2021
Listen in as Orion’s Product Managers give more information and demos of the latest updates to their products on Thursday, January 28th at 11:00 AM CT.
Market*r
With the recent enhancements released in Orion’s One Portal, your clients — and prospects — have found “The One” and only financial management portal they need. Use this turnkey campaign suitable for clients and prospects to drive adoption and engagement with your technology.
With video being among the most effective marketing outlets, our team has made adding video creation tools into Market*r a key part of our roadmap. In fact, we already have a beta version of this new video marketing tool ready, and we want your team to test it: a video that promotes the new Orion Client Portal to your clients, fully customizable by you–within minutes.
Within Market*r today, users have the option to be added to every contact list in order to see a copy of all communications from the platform. Now however, for those firms that want to increase their record retention, there is the ability to add any number of email addresses to the Bcc compliance settings feature and have those emails receive a copy of all emails sent from the system.
Orion Planning
We have updated the Federal tax brackets, standard deductions, and contribution limits for 2021. Also included in this update is the Social Security earnings limit and updated bend points.
With the release of JP Morgan’s 2021 Long-Term Capital Market Assumptions, we have updated these forward-looking assumptions in Orion Planning. In addition to being able to customize these CMAs at the firm level, this year we’ve also included a toggle to revert to the 2020 assumptions. See a summary of the assumptions here.
Client Portal
When “Access to Performance” is turned off we will now no longer show performance on the Summary page at all. The overall look and feel of the page was enhanced slightly to accommodate this update as well.
Communities
HGK’s focus on high-quality companies has generated consistently strong results with their Small Cap Value SMA, now available in Communities. Learn more and access resources on Communities Corner.
Experts in sector rotation and tactical management, Q3 Asset Management offers strategies that maintain the ability to adapt to changing market conditions. Now, you can access eight of their unique strategies in Communities. Learn more and access resources on Communities Corner.
Blueprint joins Communities with two strategies rooted in a repeatable, understandable, and transparent process that answers the questions of what, when, and how much to buy and sell. Learn more and access resources on Communities Corner.
Trading
A warning message has been added in the tactical tool (in addition to the “under max gain amount” status) to alert the user when they have gone over their max gain amount with the trades they have created.
Users now have the ability to easily allocate partially filled blocks in Eclipse. Previously users needed to import a new excel document to update allocations, but now this requires just the click of a button. This can be done by using a pro-rated or random allocation method to automatically update all orders in the block.
Users now have the ability to automatically create multiple set aside cash buckets based on a dollar cost average schedule. Enter two of the three between a total DCA amount, individual tranche amount, or number of tranches to have the system calculate how much needs to be set aside each tranche.
The representative name has been added to the accounts grid in Eclipse.
We have added the ability to show either all portfolios with an auto rebalance or just portfolios with an auto rebalance today on the dashboard. Simply click the settings popup to establish your database defaults.
We have added a column for the portfolio’s year to date gain loss on the orders grid, as well as the post trade year to date gain loss. We have also added the max gain amount on the orders grid, giving users the ability to review the gain loss situation on a portfolio en masse when creating several orders.
Integrations
Your clients now have the ability to view and download their Fidelity Documents from your branded Client Portal. This includes statements, confirms, tax statements, correspondence, and trades. For added security, Fidelity does require that the client input a few pieces of private information (first/last name, DOB, and last 4 of SSN) to gain access to the documents with each visit. Users can easily switch between household members as needed.
While these are available today in the Legacy Client Portal, they will be available in the New Client Portal in March.
Portfolio View
With the rollout of the new Portfolio View, we heard all the feedback on the necessity to have multiple groupings to review a client portfolio. Orion is excited to bring multiple levels of grouping to our grids inside of the Portfolio View.
Advisors have been asking Orion for a better on-screen representation of Income exposure reporting inside of our on-screen reporting. With this release, you will now have access to taxable & non-taxable income reporting, debt instrument income such as coupon distribution and maturity distribution, along with details around yield and income rates.
Reporting
To improve our advisor’s user experience we split out Sub-Report editing from the current report editor. This initial offering relocates the editing of sub-reports to a standalone section within the Reporting app.
Please Note: The ability to edit reports in the current editor will be removed in our February release – at which point edits can only be made in the Sub-Reports editor.
To make report building easier and more efficient, we released Dynamic Sub-Reports, which allows users to build either a Dynamic or Static Sub-Report. Dynamic Sub-Reports allow a user to build a Sub-Report, add it to reports, while adding logic that allows you to dynamically update all reports that hold it. This is a huge efficiency and a big step towards improving user experience. Don’t miss our webinar, Orion Reporting : What to Expect in 2021 (And What You May Have Missed in 2020), LIVE on January 26 and then available On-Demand.
Compliance
We’ve changed the Policies section to now be called “Library”, while giving advisors the ability to maintain Policies, Manuals and Forms within this new location. This is a convenient space for the advisors to store multiple documents while controlling what the employees can see from their Inform page.
We’ve added the institution name to both the firm holdings and firm transactions for employee accounts in Inform, adding additional transparency to identifying information. View our On-Demand Inform webinar, Stay on the Right Side of Compliance with Inform.
Performance and Composites
We are now opening up our Stored Performance import ability to additional levels under the portfolio, creating greater efficiency when onboarding advisors as they take their existing data and show returns within Orion.
We’ve added a new column within the Details section Performance Viewer. With this column enabled advisors will see how their return progressed during the period to arrive at the final return number for the performance being reviewed.
