With the latest recruiting campaign, “Make Your Next Move Your Best Move,” Market*r adds another way for your firm to target potential new employees, particularly those breaking away from their current firm and looking for a place to land.
There’s no better way for your clients to show gratitude for the causes and people they care about than by giving back. That’s why, with this new campaign, we give you the assets to show clients and prospects how your service can help them plan for a life of charitable giving.
Previously, all disclaimers on such assets as landing pages had to be edited manually for each asset. Now, Disclaimers can be set at a global level, ensuring your firm’s disclaimer is applied to every necessary asset, with minimal effort.
Navigating to Orion’s Market*r platform is about to get easier. With the use of a single login, you can launch from Orion Connect directly into the experience using the Market*r App – where you can then access all the marketing campaign content and functionality you know and love.
Note: Available December 2, 2020.
Within Orion Planning, you’ve always been able to earmark the proceeds from a Business sale or Real Estate sale to help fund your client’s goals. You are now able to earmark proceeds from the sale of a Miscellaneous Asset to help fund your clients goals as well.
Soon, Schwab statements will be automatically uploaded to Orion. The statements will be uploaded to the household level “Notes and Docs” section, and will be available to view in Orion’s Client Portal and the eMoney Portal, if enabled. Existing master account numbers will be onboarded in waves, and you will receive an email about when you can expect to see these updated in your account. New master account numbers will be set up as they come in and will start showing immediately.
Communities has expanded its BlackRock lineup with 11 more portfolio families, each with a spectrum of allocation models from conservative to aggressive, bringing over 50 new model strategies to Orion’s model marketplace. The new strategies encompass various targeted solutions for fixed income, ESG concerns, tax efficiency, and low-cost ETFs.
BlackRock’s model safe business was a pioneer in the industry, helping advisors save time on administrative and management aspects, lower costs for their clients, and reduce risk across their book. Launched in 2013, BlackRock’s model safe business has grown to over $116B globally.

To match the terminology used in Eclipse with that which is used in Orion Connect, “Transfers” will now be called “Journals” within Eclipse.
Now, when you navigate to the security set grid in Eclipse, you are able to set a view and save it as a public or private grid or set it as a default view.
To allow you to edit instructions ad-hoc as trades are created, we’ve created the ability to edit trading instructions in the Tactical Tool.
There is now a preference you can set at the firm, team, model, or portfolio level called “Auto-Rebalance Create Trades Automatically.” This new preference enables your firm to determine if you want the portfolio to automatically create trades, or just show those potential trades on the dashboard.
To enable you to filter out Cash Needs or TLH for Portfolios that are not assigned to a Model, when you now click on the “Cash Needs / TLH Dashboard Settings” icon, you will see an option for “Ignore Portfolios With No Model.”
Quickly pop out windows and edit details more easily with the new “expand” options within three tactical tool grids: Model Tolerance, Account and Cash details, and Holding and Trade Details
We have added the ability to assign a model aggregate or management style to contribution, distribution, or custodial sleeves. This can be done through a sleeve strategy or sleeve strategy aggregates, in addition to a one-off custom strategy. The sleeve import, sleeve strategy import, and sleeve strategy aggregate imports have also been updated, so be sure to review those articles in support.
Homescreen app icons have been refreshed with a clean, streamlined look. Apps can be categorized by color, a scheme that will carry across Orion Connect in 2021. Icons are designed to be more identifiable and explanatory.
The left sidebar inside of Portfolio Audit has been updated to include Portfolio Groups.
Soon, we will be replacing the Household Overview with the new Portfolio View. This change is designed to improve speed, enhance the user experience, simplify fact finding, and increase operational efficiency for your firm. To help make the transition to the new Portfolio View more seamless, Household Overview will be available until December 19, 2020. At that time however, Household Overview will be discontinued and only Portfolio View will be available.
NOTE: Schwab Openview Gateway will continue to be available in Portfolio View. The Prairie View Integration will not transition to Portfolio View. We will work directly with affected users to help them transition.
Now an Advisor has the ability to change the default representative that is assigned to all new households, by selecting the Default Representative box inside the representative edit screen. Please be aware that changing this default could result in a rep seeing account information for client’s that are not under their representation. Best practice is to create a “New Account Rep” or your firm’s name (“Show Me the Money Financial”) as the default representative instead of an actual individual.
Previously if an advisor ever wanted to change the message on an invoice about the pay method, they would have to provide the message to their Orion service team and wait for Orion to update that message. Now an advisor has the ability to change the message without having to reach out to Orion. We have even added balance due and due date tags so the message can display invoice specific information within the message.
Up to this point the only way you could have a PDF attached to an Orion report was to run the report in the Report Batches App or append one manually using a third party program. Not anymore. We have added a new insert option to Report Builder that allows you to include a PDF within standalone reports. We have even more development planned to really round out this new functionality – so stay tuned.
One of the most requested items we’ve heard from our advisors was enhancements to our Model Inclusion Grouping within Report Builder. Model Inclusion splits out what is in a respective model and what isn’t. After launching Model Inclusion we had a number of firms ask to see this information combined into a single element and that’s where our new Model vs Actual grouping comes in. This shows what is in model and what isn’t within a single table instead of breaking it out. Even better – you can now use this grouping within a number of our charts.
Performance and Composites
Performance Viewer has been updated with a new design, increased speed and greater functionality.
