October 2020
Hear directly from Orion’s Product Managers as they demo October’s most important updates on Thursday, October 29th at 11:00 CT.
Market*r
Creating better financial habits is tough. Luckily, with help from the right financial advisor, investors can create new habits for saving, smart investing, and getting out of debt. In this campaign, we help you show investors a comprehensive approach to their short and long-term goals.
An extension of the existing client communication topic this campaign includes assets for many of the most useful client communication touch points such as birthdays, annual reviews, tax season, and more.
Previously, all contacts imported or added to the system fell into the same Contact list. With this enhancement, you now have the ability to both import contacts and separate those contacts into custom groups, giving your team more options for segmenting and personalizing your marketing efforts.
To improve the way your firm brands and personalizes your marketing materials, we have added the ability to set a custom global disclaimer within the Settings area that filters down to all the appropriate marketing materials. That way, your team can easily apply your disclaimer message to all your materials from a single location.
In addition to the new campaigns added into Market*r this month, we have also added a new type of content: blog posts. Now, each new campaign (as well as a few existing ones) will have blog posts available as part of the campaign, further expanding the reach and impact of your marketing.
Orion Planning
When sharing a plan with another advisor, as you start typing you will see suggestions of other advisors in your database. This is a firm level setting that can be disabled which will require you to type the full email address of the advisor with whom you wish to share the plan.
Client Portal
Keeping your clients focused on their long term goals is key to their overall success. We’ve now made it easier for clients to access their financial plan by creating a single sign on to eMoney from the Orion Client Portal. With the click of a button, clients can now access their financial plan to ensure they are staying on track.
With the new Orion Client Portal, we’ve made it our mission to give your firm the tools and resources you need to provide your clients with a true personal financial management experience. Whether that means the tools to open accounts, build a solid financial plan, view key reports, or anything in between, it’s all available through the single portal you provide.
Now, your firm is able to provide your clients with access to premiere credit/identity monitoring and recovery services for free through the remainder of 2020, thanks to our expanded integration with Experian. What’s more, they’ll receive notifications through the new Client Portal triggered by potential fraudulent acts made against them, further proving the value of your service. If you have not already enabled the new client portal, please visit orionadvisortech.com/clientportal-get-started/ to sign up to get started. If the new Client Portal is already enabled for your firm and you would like more information on the Experian integration, please reach out Orion’s Integrations Support team.
Communities
Brinker Capital Investment’s Destinations Mutual Fund Portfolios, built with their Destinations Mutual Funds, are now available in Communities! Here’s how they bring value to your practice:
- Core investment competencies are rooted in a dynamic yet flexible, multi-asset class investment approach.
- Both active and passive investment management is valued, helping provide a superior overall return profile.
- Long-term strategic allocations and established allocation ranges are adhered to for each asset class, yet active shifts are made based on short and intermediate-term macro views.
Visit your resource center to see the entire list of Brinker models and to access additional information.
Trading
Within Eclipse, a new warning message in the raise cash tool will now appear any time the amount to raise is greater than the sleeve account’s actual value. That way, you will always know why the system did not raise the full cash amount.
With this update, when you review a portfolio’s tolerance in Eclipse, it will be based on the review level rather than the rebalance level to help you more accurately review portfolios. This is an update to all portfolio grid icons and columns.
In an effort to update all existing sidebars throughout Orion Connect to be consistent and modernized, we have combined several tabs on the existing sidebar and added dropdown prompts where appropriate.
With this update, when a Sleeved Registration is set to “Do Not Trade” then all of the sleeved accounts in that Registration will be marked as “Do Not Trade”. This option on the Account Level will be set to “Read Only” when the registration is set to “Do Not Trade” and cannot be edited on the Sleeved Account Level.
Understanding the efficacy of an investment strategy within the context of a client’s unique situation is core to the value an advisor provides. To help increase this value, we have added the ability to see a client’s risk score in sleeve setup as well as the ability to see the sleeve strategies risk score. This will allow you to analyze the risk of a strategy vs. the client’s risk score prior to moving forward with that strategy.
With this release, the setting “Disallow Sells Within X Number of Days Of Going From STG To LTG” is copied from the firm level to the model level, enabling you to set this preference on individual models.
To give your firm expanding preference options, model imports can now be set to “Pending Approval” or “Approved” once they are imported. That way, if you set your model approval settings to “Require Approval” then all models will be marked, “Pending Approval” upon import. Conversely, if you set your model approval settings to “Not Require Approval” then the models will be marked as “Approved” upon import.
Within Eclipse, your sleeved portfolios now have the ability to journal all excess cash across sleeves prior to creating any trades. This way you reduce the number of trades when the distribution percentage may add more trading costs.
New Homepage
A new option to quickly find the support documents you need has been added with this release. Now, if you click the question mark icon on your homepage, you are directed to Orion support materials.
Within the Contact Us dropdown, there is now a prompt to have your rep ID information ready. That way you will be able to quickly confirm your ID when you contact Orion.
To improve the accuracy of the data displayed on the new Homescreen, we have updated the logic behind several key cads so that data from demo accounts does not appear. These cards include Revenue, Asset Allocation, AUM Summary, Portfolio Allocation, Transactions, and Model Summary.
To give your firm a clearer view into your business, an “Active Unmanaged Accounts” audit has been added to the Portfolio Audit section of the Quarter End Dashboard.
The Orion Support app will be refreshed soon with a new look and features including better case communication, new levels of access, more intuitive ways to find what you’re looking for, and more.
Billing
Previously when Advisory Fee Reports were created by the billing team, those reports were stored and viewed in the Advisory fee Reports App. For those who use both the Advisory Fee Reports and the Payout Dashboard, we found it was unnecessary for them to have to go to separate apps just to review the different reports. Therefore, we combined the reports into a single storage and location.
One of the most popular requests we have received is to add Last Name as a column in the Payout Dashboard slick grids. With this release, we’ve made that functionality available so that now you are able to add Last Name as a column on any slickgrid tab.
Integrations
Within our Element experience we provide a feature for Advisors to submit service requests, such as Account Maintenance or Trade requests to our OPS or Enterprise Servicing team. For our OAT Advisors, we have now created routing to those requests to go to your Salesforce Org so that your back office can fulfill and update those service requests.
Reporting
A number of firms have reached out to us with a request for a middle ground level of access for the Report Builder tool. RB Lite accomplishes this. It will allow users to access sub-reports without making changes to the actual sub report. They can build new reports with sub-reports they have been granted access to, change the sub-report placement and/or remove the sub-report entirely.
Charts within Report Builder now have the ability to hide $ and % signs on the X and Y Axis.
Compliance
We’ve updated the dashboard to provide additional information to the advisor for completing their cover page, by expanding to two tiles.
Performance and Composites
With this release, you now have the ability to view after tax returns within the reports available in Report Builder 3 (RB3). This enables you to now import in Tax Rates for each account and show the effect of taxes on returns of portfolios. We’ve created the Custom Import “ Account Tax Rate” so you can more easily mass update the tax rates for all of your accounts.
We’ve created a custom import so that you can more easily create blended benchmarks and dynamic benchmarks en masse. This custom import will also allow you to edit existing benchmarks you’ve created and add in new allocations.
